Sandy Goodin
Sandy and her husband Don relocated to Pawleys Island in the Spring of 2007. Immediately following their move, Sandy began her certificate training with Power Pilates. The program appealed to Sandy, because of its’ reputation for high standards and teaching the classical method of Joseph and Clara Pilates. Through her training she taught at various locations in town, until she decided to open the first free standing professional Pilates Studio on the Waccamaw Neck in the Fall of 2007.
Sandy also graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with her Bachelor in Science and Nursing, and practiced as a Registered Nurse. She has become part of the community by participating in several not for profit organizations that provide for the needs of Georgetown County. She enjoys teaching Pilates, learning more about Pilates, walks on the beach with her husband and dogs, and Kick Boxing!
Perry Mauzy
Perry Mauzyʼs involvement with Pilates came through her career as a professional dancer. As early as junior high school, Ms. Mauzy was introduced to Pilates mat work while a student at the University of the North Carolina School of the Arts (attended from 1984 - 1989, high school graduate). Her other classical dance training includes the School of American Ballet and the School of the San Francisco Ballet. From 1989 - 2000, Ms. Mauzy danced professionally with the Charleston Ballet Theater in SC where she continued her Pilates training on equipment.
After completing her certification through Physical Mind, she began instructing Pilates in 2001 in Winston-Salem, NC at BodyMind, Inc. while also attending Salem College (2000 - 2004, magna cum laude graduate BA in Arts Management). Upon her return from studies abroad (St. Peterʼs College Oxford University and University of Edinburgh, Scotland, MSc History of Art) Ms. Mauzy taught dance and continued her Pilates teaching at the Mindful Movement studio also in Winston-Salem, NC. Since the fall of 2009, Ms. Mauzy has been instructing at Waccamaw Pilates. She loves living at the beach with her dog Yogi.
Anastasiya Goers
Anastasiya has found her passion in teaching fitness 9 years ago. She started teaching group fitness when she was living in Ukraine (her home country) and studying at the State University of Shipbuilding. About 6 years ago Anastasiya took her first Pilates mat class and immediately fell in love with the method. It was her dream since then to complete her Pilates training and become a Pilates instructor.
Anastasiya met her husband Brian 5 years ago while still living in Ukraine. They moved to the US in 2008 with their twin-daughters Vlada and Scarlett. Shortly after the move Anastasiya got her certification as a Group Fitness Instructor through AFAA. In June 2010 she completed Pilates mat training through Power Pilates. Looking for more balanced ways to develop and work with the body Anastasiya started her Pilates training through Balanced Body University in 2011. At this moment she has finished her mat and Beginner Reformer training and is in the process of completing her full Pilates certification. Anastasiya loves spending time with her family, writing about life balance on her blog and helping people get in touch with their bodies.
